Humans of NY

[av_textblock size='' font_color='' color=''] mrferrariJust yesterday I was reading my Facebook feed. I always take a few seconds to read Humans of NY because it’s about stories, real stories. Real people. The photographer catches people in their lives with a backdrop of NYC and shares what they tell him. I couldn’t get yesterday’s story our of my head. Maybe you can help me figure it out. So there was this cab driver who at the end of his shift tells a man on the sidewalk to find another cab because he was clocking out for the day. A few seconds later he changes his mind, tells the guy whose hat was drawn down covering his face, to hop in and what unfolds after that is just this incredible story about coincidence, connection and joy.  It touched me. I was so happy for this cabbie and grateful to have had a chance to read about this moment in time. But why? Maybe it’s because I’m attracted to the real, the authentic and the raw. Or maybe it’s because deep down inside I believe when you put good out there it comes back to you ten fold, or maybe it’s because I’ve had these very same types of seemingly once in a lifetime magical experiences in my life and I yearn for them. I’m not really sure. Maybe it’s all three. Either way, it reached some part of me that needed to be reached. It inspired me to be a better Enye (ñ) storyteller in the hopes that one day we might touch people in a similar way. It’s starting to happen, and it’s humbling. This is good work indeed.
